I was asked if I would perform a Naming for little Baby F when he was just a few months old, but thanks to the pandemic it was delayed until he was a bouncing and (very!) cheeky toddler. In some ways though, this made it even more meaningful when we could all eventually gather to celebrate the arrival of this wonderful little boy.
F's parents chose to mark his Naming by planting a field maple... "It is a hardy plant, one that is strong against the elements. It changes with the seasons, flourishing in the summer and turning into brilliant, golden leaves in the autumn. It loves the sunshine, and will bask in the warm glow of the morning sunshine of their garden. Its deep roots provide stability against harsh winds just as his grownups promise to support him..."
F's Mum shared these incredibly kind words after the Ceremony...
"Thank you so much for everything. You are such a warm and loving person who went out of your way to make it a very special day for our family.
Our friends and family haven’t stopped talking about how personal the ceremony was. Your attention to detail, and the hard work you put into the ceremony made planning the day so much more straightforward for us. We didn't know where to start, and you gently guided us through the whole process making sure that everything was just right for our little boy's special day.
Like so many events, the first attempt had been cancelled because of the pandemic, so two years later you did the hard work all over again and prepared an entirely updated and revised ceremony to reflect his age. You did this with grace and generosity.
It was a very emotional day for lots of reasons, but you brought the right amount of humour and wit to make sure it wasn't all tears!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, there was no one else who could so perfectly capture what we needed as a family."
Messages like this, just make my heart sing. I put my heart and soul into every ceremony I do, and knowing the effect it had really do mean the world!
